Clay Vessel: Unit 2
The vessel is shaped like a pineapple and has leaves sticking out of the top. There is a hole at the top that can hold objects like pens and pencils. There are small cuts along the outside of the body to resemble the spikes of a pineapple.
There is a repeating pattern of the upside down "v" shapes along the body. The leaves also create symmetry.
The body was made out of small coils that were smoothed out. The coils start off small, get bigger, and then become smaller again at the top. The leaves were cut out of rolled out slabs of clay into leaf shapes and attached to the top of the vessel using the scratch and scoring method.
Overall, I am happy with this vessel and how it turned out. There are a few things I would have done differently, for example, make the leaves a little better, but I am pleased with the outcome.
